about-leah-downtown

Leah was born in northern California and grew up experimenting in a multitude of art forms. Having excelled at an early age in dance, music, and fine arts, she quickly realized that filmmaking was her ideal form of expression. At the age of eight, Leah started making films with her parents’ digital video camera, often experimenting with stop-motion animation and in-camera effects.

Leah is a recent graduate of Cal State Long Beach where she studied Film Theory and Practice of Cinema. While still in school she directed 3 award-winning music videos in a row and then wrote and directed her debut short film. After winning the Grand Prize of Onvidi’s Student Video Contest for her music video for Mika Ben-Yami, Leah gained recognition as a promising young filmmaker nationwide. During her last year of college Leah wrote and has been developing her most ambitious narrative project yet, Quarter Life Crisis.
